The current lobby at the hotel's Grand Avenue entrance still has its original travertine walls and oak paneling as well as the large artificial skylighted ceiling, reflected in the custom carpet below. Biltmore HouseYour Biltmore House admission invites you to experience three grand floors and the once-bustling basement of America’s Largest Home®. Its greatest connection to Tinseltown, though, is its long history as a filming location. Virtually every square inch of the place has appeared on screen at some point, which is not surprising being that the hotel is one of the most beautiful spaces in L.A. The Biltmore is also incredibly versatile - parts of it have masked as everything from the White House (on Scandal) to a Las Vegas casino (Beverly Hills, 90210) and a boxing facility (Rocky III).

When it was discovered that Elisa Lam had drowned in a water tank on the hotel surveillance video, the video showed she was acting erratically. Ghostly figures in tuxedos have been spotted in the Blossom Room, the former home of the Oscars. Based on reports, the ghost of a little girl wanders the hotel in her blue dress.

The door swings open to reveal a set of rickety stairs, which leads to a tight, narrow room where celebrities like Gloria Swanson once drank at the forbidden bar. And so, according to the hotel’s current general manager, Alex DeCarvalho, a ruse was devised. In the great Gold Ballroom (currently being meticulously restored), a low-molded panel in the back corner leads to the Biltmore’s long-forgotten speakeasy. The Biltmore Hotel opened smack dab in the middle of America’s great failed experiment, which meant alcohol could not legally be served in its glittering ballrooms and eateries.

All the staff we interacted with were very friendly and helpful. Rendezvous Court has appeared onscreen countless times over the years. It was there that Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) memorably – and rather lewdly - checks in to the fictional “Beverly Palm Hotel” under the guise of being a Rolling Stone reporter in Beverly Hills Cop. The court has also been utilized in episodes of Revenge, Mad Men, NCIS, Glee and 90210, as well as in the movies Blow and Daredevil. Join us in our ornate Rendezvous Court to experience our beloved afternoon tea. Sip champagne, choose from a variety of our specialty tea selection, and enjoy a tiered-tower filled with sweets and savories - ALMOST too beautiful to eat.
Thanks to Hollywood’s glamour and glitz, some of the most famous specters from Tinseltown’s golden era continue to linger in the very hotels they once frequented. From silver screen legends to restless spirits of lesser-known souls, these haunted hotels in Los Angeles are home to an array of eerie guests. Throughout the thirties, The Biltmore’s connection with Hollywood’s biggest stars was well established. Journey back in time and the ballroom was the dancefloor of choice for luminaries like Charlie Chaplin, Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Jimmy Stewart, and Ginger Rogers. Despite the turbulence of the Great Depression, Baron Long, the new hotelier, established the world’s largest nightclub, The Biltmore Bowl. The twenties saw the guestrooms and ballrooms filled with the most famous faces of the time, earning it the nickname ‘The Host of The Coast’.
The hotel is wonderfull, a lot of movies was filmed there, the loccation in downtown it s perfecty. The location, is so close to amazing places like the city hall, the park, Walt Disney concert hall, etc. A movie buff's dream, with the corridors proudly displaying photos of movies which have been filmed there. I had a warm welcome after a long flight, friendly staff looked after me, and I got upgraded to a corner room with views over Pershing Square. During World War II, the Biltmore served as a military rest and recreation facility, with the entire second floor equipped with cots for military personnel on leave.
